ONGOING PROGRAMS FROM THE INTERNATIONAL CENTER

INTERNATIONAL FRIENDS PROGRAM: The IFP matches new international students at FSU with people in the community for the purpose of sharing friendship and culture. Through this program international students have an opportunity to meet local residents and to learn more about local culture. Students do not live with their Tallahassee Friends; however, friends meet independently and are invited to join in a variety of social and recreational activities throughout the year. Accepting a Tallahassee Friend can ease your transition into U.S. culture and make your experience at Florida State much more enjoyable and enriching. This program also helps American students learn about other countries and cultures and may count toward Global Pathways Certificate Program. If you would like to join, please complete this form and return it to the International Center, 945 Learning Way.

GLOBAL AMBASSADORS PROGRAM: The GAP is a chance for international students, scholars, and faculty to spread awareness about their country and culture to schools and organizations throughout the Tallahassee community. The International Center arranges speaking engagements in classrooms, with community organizations and in other settings. International students benefit by improving their English skills, learning more about the U.S. and meeting people outside of FSU. If you would like to volunteer, please complete our online form and return it to the International Center, 945 Learning Way.

GLOBAL PATHWAYS CERTIFICATE: The FSU Global Pathways Certificate, designed by FSU Academic Affairs and Student Affairs, maximizes the rich cultural learning experiences available to you on campus, in the community and abroad. For more information please visit: http://global.fsu.edu/students/certificate/certificate.htm

International Graduate Student Support Group: The FSU Counseling Center invites all international graduate students to join a weekly discussion and support group that will focus on adjustment issues and concerns. The group will provide support and allow students to assist one another to improve their quality of life at FSU. The group meets Fridays from 1:00 to 2:30 pm at the University Counseling Center, located in the Askew Student Life Center (Suite 201) across from the International Center. To join, contact group facilitator Naoya Izawa, Psy.D., at 850-644-2003, nizawa@admin.fsu.edu.
