NEW! Internationals Certificate Series

The International Center and FSU Human Resources are pleased to announce a new series of training Courses known as the FSU Internationals Certificate Series.  The 14-hour series focuses on understanding cultural differences to better provide excellent customer service, providing an overview of both F-1 and J-1student visa status, as well as covering various aspects of employing Foreign Faculty, Staff, Scholars and Students from the offer stage through the appointment and beyond. Participants must complete all 5 courses in order to receive a certificate.  The series includes:

Bridging Cultures for Service Excellence - Learn how to provide effective customer service when interacting with people from diverse cultures; includes a culturally diverse food-tasting segment. (Part of the Customer Service Certificate Series & the FSU Internationals Certificate Series)

Bringing Foreign Faculty, Staff and Scholars to FSU – An overview of the process of bringing foreign nationals to FSU temporarily as faculty, researchers, and employees, particularly in the H-1B and J-1 Exchange

Employing Foreign Faculty, Staff and Students – An overview of FSU’s multi-dimensional process of hiring foreign nationals for temporary appointments. Topics include: documents and paperwork required for the appointment; Glacier and Basic Tax Issues; & more. (Part of the FSU Internationals Certificate Series)

Permanent Residence: Assisting Foreign Faculty and Staff – An overview of the requirements of the employment-based permanent residence application process, and FSU policy. (Part of the FSU Internationals Certificate Series)

Working with F-1 and J-1 International Students – Reviews essential information related to international students at FSU, including admissions and visa issues; employment/appointment; enrollment; extensions; etc (Part of the FSU Internationals Certificate Series)
