Undergraduate Tuition Waivers
The State of Florida provides an allocation of money each year to be used for out-of-state tuition waivers for deserving undergraduate international students. The awards are made for one semester only for up to 12 hours depending on the GPA and students MUST reapply for each semester. Students are responsible for paying the in-state portion and fees for the out-of-state credit hours waived, and any remaining tuition and fees for credit hours not waived. The number of awards depends on the amount allocated each year and on the number of applicants meeting the requirements. Awards are made by the International Center's Tuition-Waiver Committee and they are based on the applicants' overall FSU grade point average.Deadlines
| For Fall Semester (beginning in August) | August 15 |
| For Spring Semester (beginning in January) | December 15 |
| For Summer Semesters (beginning in May or June) | April 15 |
Eligibility
All full-time undergraduate degree-seeking international students in F-1 or J-1 visa status, who have completed at least one semester at Florida State University and have a GPA of 3.3 and above are eligible to apply. Students on the 2+2 Panama program receiving in-state tuition, or students receiving a departmental waiver, and special students are not eligible for the Out-of State tuition waiver. Note: Students who are enrolled or intend to enroll for less than the required 12 hours (for Fall and Spring semesters) are eligible to apply if the reduced hours have been approved by the student's academic adviser and the international student adviser. Tuition waivers are granted based on academic merit; however a very limited number of awards are given on a need basis provided proper documentation is submitted with the application.
Selection
After the posted application deadline, the committee will review all submitted applications to verify eligibility and fund distribution. Available waivers are granted to the most students possible in descending order from 4.0 FSU GPA. Awards are generally posted beginning the 5th day of classes and before the fee payment deadline. Students will be notified via email of the committee's decision.
