We invite you to be a part of our exciting world! The Campus and Community Programs office opens doors to a worldwide exchange of ideas and sharing of cultural wealth, offers vast opportunities to learn more about various cultures, and helps international students transition into FSU.
  • Coffee Hour - Every Friday from 5:30 P.M to 7:00 P.M come enjoy coffee and exotic teas in our new café! Students and faculty also have the opportunity to show off their talents during this hour.

  • English Conversation Club - Students and adult family members may practice conversational English with native speakers of English in an informal, relaxed environment.

  • Global Ambassador Program - the world has come to Tallahassee. Approximately 1000 international students and scholars from more than 100 countries are at FSU. These talented men and women come not only to learn, but to teach their own cultures and customs and their impressions of their new home. The Global Ambassador Program makes it possible for your community organization or class to meet some of these fascinating people and to learn firsthand about other members of our world community. There is no charge, however requests must be made at least 1 month in advance.

The International Peer Mentor Program is a program designed to provide additional support for new international students. The program was created by new international students from fall 2004 to help new students adjust better to their new atmosphere by having someone serve them as a resource. All peer mentors have international experience, either from studying or living abroad, and want to be actively involved in welcoming and supporting international students at FSU.

Your International Peer Mentor will be able to serve as a resource and a support person for you during your first semester at FSU and help you integrate more easily into campus and community life. Feel free to bring up any questions or concerns you may have—they are here to help you! You may keep into touch with your Peer Mentor via e-mail. They may also ask to meet with you several times a month for coffee or other social activities; this is to ensure your transition to FSU is a smooth one. Peer mentors plan activities to help get you involved in campus life, introduce you to new people and learn about American culture.

Peer Mentors plan social activities so that you can meet other International and American students. These might be such things as going to a football game, going out for dinner and to the movies, or having a simple get together at the International Center. The dates of these Peer Mentor activities will be on the International Center Activity Calendar. Be sure to check the calendar and your e-mail, so that you don’t miss opportunities to get more involved in campus life!
