This program provides students with opportunities to learn about and experience the profound changes taking place in the historical, former East German city of Dresden, located in the state of Saxony. Post WWII reconstruction is still underway and Dresden is once again emerging as one of the most beautiful cities in Germany. German town The FSU team is housed in a high rise dormitory on the campus of the Technical University-Dresden (TU-D), within walking distance of the train station, and most meals are eaten in the university cafeteria or mensa. The TU-D students that visited FSU in March are actively involved in hosting the FSU team and plan a variety of program activities to help students learn about German university life, culture, and history. Both teams go on excursions to local towns and villages, visit many historical sites and enjoy the natural beauty of Saxony. The FSU team also participates in several social service projects in schools and institutions near Dresden. The FSU team usually travels to Berlin for a three day excursion (hostel and meals on this trip are not included in the program fee). Some knowledge of the German language is recommended but is not required. Students with little or no German have successfully participated in this program in the past, and those with some German have improved their communication skills.

"Overall being able to experience and interact with different culture was a learning experience for me. I realized that we're not as different as everyone thought."
