The Florida State University Special Academic Program in Intercultural Communication is designed to provide highly qualified students from our partner institutions with the opportunity to study at The Florida State University for one semester. The Fall Semester program is available to students at Sookmyung Women's University and Dankook University. The Spring Semester program is available to students from FAE Centro Universitario. Students must have advanced English-speaking skills and a minimum of 80 on the IB TOEFL or a 6.5 on the IELTS to apply.
They also need to be serious about their academic performance as well as be willing to actively engage in campus and community activities. 
During the academic semester at FSU, students are enrolled in four academic classes with FSU students. For three of these courses, Special Academic Program Students will also attend an additional hour of tutorial per week, during which an FSU instructor will provide additional support as needed.
Students will also take a fourth three (3) credit cross-cultural seminar which brings international students and U.S. American students together to conduct a multi-disciplinary exploration of culture and identity, as well as academics, in the United States. This seminar is designed to support students' progress towards achieving the FSU Global Pathways Certificate. During the academic training at the Walt Disney World Resort, students will work in their assigned roles as well as complete other academic requirements to fulfill the program of study set by Florida State University. Students will work between 30-37.5 hours per week, except when classes are not in session when they might work more than 37.5 hours per week. The academic training provides students with the opportunity to apply and expand the principles of intercultural communication through daily interaction with people from a variety of different cultures in social, cultural, academic and work situations. It also provides them with the invaluable experience of being part of a large company with over 50,000 employees that is highly organized, efficient and world renowned for excellent guest service.
Eligibility
Students need to be at least second year students in good academic standing at their home institution and have a minimum score of 80 or higher on the Internet Based TOEFL or a 6.5 on the IELTS. Students need to be serious about their academic performance as well as be willing to be actively engaged in campus and community activities.
Students must also pass the oral interview with a recruiter from the Walt Disney World Resort in order to be eligible for this program. Students should have a genuine desire to participate in both the academic semester as well as the academic training and be willing to be actively engaged in all components of the program.

Program Fee
The program fee includes room and board, tuition and fees at FSU, as well as a Peer Mentor and other staff support. Fee also includes a handbook, an FSU polo shirt, an FSU ID card, and transportation to various events and activities.
Students are responsible for at least the following: roundtrip airfare, immigration and visa fees, health insurance meeting FSU requirements, textbooks for courses at Florida State University and the Disney International College Program, transportation to Orlando and pocket money.
Travel Break
Students will have a travel break at the end of the FSU semester prior to check-in at the Disney International Programs housing near the Walt Disney World Resort. The FSU staff will meet with the students during their first days in Orlando to ensure a successful transition. Upon successful completion of the academic semester and the academic training at the Walt Disney World Resort, students will also have the option of remaining in the U.S. for up to 30 days to travel.
